The ways in which the Italian Renaissance's belief in humanism transformed ideas about the individual's role in society was that, the individual was more conserned with themselves and not as much as the manors that they used to live on. Humanism led to many more people to become recognized by the world that they lived in. More people would become artists musicians teachers builders during this time because the humanism was the belief that the human is all important
I agree. I think that the idea of Humanism led more people to become aware of the world around them. They became more aware of their surroundings like the universe and planets and when painting Europeans painted using perspective, more colors and they drew things in scale
Humanism was a cultural movement throughout Italy during the Renaissance Period. People started thinking for themselves and experimenting. The way that the Italian Renaissance's belief in humanism altered the ideas about the individual's part in society was that the individual wanted to become successful on their own doing what they wanted to do rather than working on a manor for a King. For example, a former person who worked on a manor could have become a merchant and made a lot of money living in Italy during the Renaissance. The belief in humanism led people to start studying the solar system and other things that make up the world. The people were now changing everything that once had a strict structure and order.
During the time of the Italian Renaissance people were starting to look at life in a completely different way. People started to value new things in new ways. This was the idea of humanism and it had a big impact on the society during the Renaissance. People started to realize how powerful the human body was, and the new limits they could reach. New public duties were being expressed individually. Actually now most of the work that was being done would be done by an individual or small group of people.
In the earlier ages people respected poverty. Now with new jobs becoming more popular people started writing, drawing, and specializing in architecture. With these new jobs societies started to properly enjoy wealth. A man that was living a good life with a popular job making the most of his life was a man of virtue. That is how the Renaissance in Italy changed ideas about the individual’s role during this time.
I agree with Nick and Rocco. Like Nick said a person could become a merchant even though they came from working class. This allowed individuals to make their own money which empowered individuals. Individual thoughts and art became more important than religion. As Rocco said life could be better for an individual and they could improve how they lived. Compared to today when arts and thoughts are equally important to us in America it turns out to be a time that really influenced our culture but some places still do not believe in humanism today.
The influence of humanism during the Renaissance made a huge impact on all of the western hemisphere. Before the "rebirth" , the dark ages put a stop to all previous knowledge and art. The church had total control over all of the manors in Europe. The landlords were so afraid to be excommunicated from the church, that they did what ever they had to to remain on the good side of the Pope. They forced the peasants, which were 90% of all people living during the middle ages, to farm land and were under total control of the kings. The whole reason for the Feudal system was security. Everyone was so scared of doing things on their own or thinking outside of the box. The nobles and Kings wanted the security of unquestioned control over their kingdoms and the peasants wanted security from barbarians and from neighboring lands. Finally when the Renaissance began, old ideas from ancient Greece and from the Roman Empire combined with new ideas of Machiavelli ,Da Vinci and Mirandola to create this new way of thinking .Instead of solely concentrating on getting into heaven, people started enjoying life here on earth by painting, learning how to read and write and by creating inventions to improve the everyday lives of people. The paintings had an extremely important impact on society because in the 15th century most people did not know who to read so paintings were a very important part of an artist getting his ideas across to a wide audience. These painters brought the same ideas of individualism to life in their paintings that Thomas Paine and Thomas Jefferson would do Hundreds of years later during the revolution.
I think that Nick H. had a very well written explanation of how the Italian Renaissance and humanism changed the ideas about the individual’s role in life. Like what he said in his comment, people started to branch out on their own and discover new things for themselves. Not only did people discover completely new things they learned how to expand with what they had. Like a new sense of reality, a new concept of space which they have never dealt with before to this new extent. I also like how he said that humanism expanded people off of their manors because they wanted success on their own. Like many sculptors who found that old Greek and Roman traditions helped them sculpt easier and make more modern pieces of art.
Italian Renaissance Humanism transformed the idea of a person's role in society drastically. During the Middle Ages the majority of the population, known as peasants, were forced to farm the lands of feudal lords in exchange for protection. However once the Renaissance had begun, the revival of greco-roman culture, and the ideas of Machiavelli brought about the belief of Humanism and a persons desire to always reach for greatness. These ideas allowerd former peasant farmers to become successful artists and merchants. These beliefs in Humanism also led to the developement of job specialization, and new knowledge of the human body. Along with these new jobs, wealth was also brought to many new individuals and societies. Those are just some of the many examples of how Italian Renaissance Humanism transformed the idea of a person's role in society.
The ways in which Italian Renaissance Humanism transformed ideas about the individual's role in society is it transformed followers into thinkers. Especially lower class people had now realized that a difference could be made from anywhere and anyone in society, including themselves. Humanism helped people realize that everyone's position is very important throughout society. An example of Humanism is the French Revolution, people started to think for themselves and made a huge difference on society. Humanism showed people how important they are in society.
I completely agree with SeanBaxx because people were able to think independently and their role in their society was important regardless of their class. I also like the idea of the French Revolution and how the people became more individual instead of following those above them. The French Revolution is a perfect example of humanism and how people should feel they are needed in their society.
Humanism, the idea of human potential and achievment were introduced during the Renaissance. Before then religion was more important but when humanism was introduced people recognized their surroundings and their potential to become more successful and branch out from what they had known.
By definition Humanism means any system or mode of thought or action in which human interests, values, and dignity predominate. During the middle ages most of human focus was on god and getting into heaven. Slowly over time as the church lost power ideas spread of a life without the church controlling it. During the renaissances people begin to think about them selves and enjoying life instead of living in fear of god. No longer did people stay stuck on a lords land. ordinary people staring becoming teachers, artist and philosophers. The collected mass of people started to break up and assume their own identity's. Art was no longer just of angels and god but of everyday life, the human body and nature. the spread of humanism exploded with new ideas and ways of thinking. It showed that you had the power to make a difference, not god, not the church.
you held your own destiny and depended on your choices that is how your life will turn out.
I agree with daniel b people were starting to move away from the idea that the church was the only way to go if you wanted happiness in this life or the next. People wanted to know about the universe around them, and what made things work in the world.
I agree with Daniel B because during the renaissance people started to move away from religious ideas, and started forming their own way of thinking. Painters and artists would start drawing portraits of humans instead of religious figures. There was more perspective in art. People started to think for themselves and question the power of the church.
overall everyone has the right idea here and I agree especially with nick h when he said humanism influenced people to think of being succesful as an individual and the importance of what an individual can do. Citezens during this time became wealthy merchants and indulged in the arts.
During the Italian Renaissance people started to look on how they could improve their lives and how they lived. It was the idea of humanism. It changed the way people viewed themselves and the world around them. Rather than living the ordinary life people looked on how they could better themselves. Humanism changed the how people viewed art and literature in a positive way and because of that people started becoming poets and artist rather than your average peasant. Also people didn't want to work for kings or nobles on a manor so people left the manners and would be come merchants or bankers to make more money. People also started looking away from the original ways of the how to live from the Church and Bible. that was the idea of secularization.
I agree with Nick H. about everything he said but he didn't mention anything about how people looked away from the church on how to live their lives.
