The term "Renaissance" is a great concept to describe a distinct period in early modern European history because it means "rebirth". The Renaissance was a rebirth of many things from the previous Middle Ages. New ways of thinking came about, art took on a more secular theme, and a focal point of the time was humanism and the individual man. The religious, God-dependent men of the Middle Ages were now strong, confident, individual working men of virtu. Also, Greco-Roman culture was revived and used in architecture, such as the column, the arch, and the dome.
The Renaissance brought back many of the ideas from the Roman Empire and from Greek philosophy that was lost during the Dark Ages. This included: architecture, trade, and investments in the Arts. No longer did a man blindly follow the bible, or be content at working on a field, but questioned his surroundings and wanted to expand his mind and knowledge of the world around him. Boys no longer learned how to do manual labor, but learned latin, greek, astronomy, philosophy, and many other things. The Renaissance was a rebirth of learning and in that new ideas came forth from it.
The Renaissance was a great concept to show a period in early modern European history because it was a time in European history where ideas from the Greek and roman times were used such as when artists used the arch and dome. Also during this time people started awakening from the dark ages. The term renaissance means "rebirth" because during the renaissance there was a rebirth of ideas. People started to become more secular in there ideas, there art, and the architecture. More people were pulling away from the church. People were becoming humanists and thinking for themselves. It was a time of great learning. Man became more confident in who they were, and stopped believing in everything the church would say. Because of the renaissance new discoveries were made.
I agree with Julia because the renaissance is a great concept to describe a distinct period in early modern European history. Like Julia said renaissance means rebirth and this time period was rebirth. It was a rebirth from Old god dependent believes to a more humanist form of living. Also it was the rebirth of Greco roman culture because people started to study artifacts from there time periods.
I agree with Julia because the Renaissance is an excellent word to describe this time period because it means rebirth. During this time there where many changes and rebirths. There was the rebirth of many Greek and Roman styles and ideas. There was a rebirth in architecture of the columns and domes. Architectures used these styles and made them more advanced. There was also news ways of thinking during the Renaissance of humanism. Humanists took on ideas of past Greek and Roman philosophers.
The term "Renaissance" is a valid concept for this period in European history because the definition of the term "Renaissance" is a rebirth or a revival. I agree with what Julia said in her comment about how there was "a rebirth of many things from the previous Middle Ages." There were many intellectual and artistic achievements made during the Renaissance and intellect and art drastically changed from the Middle Ages to eventually our current world. The rebirth of Greco-Roman style architecture came into the picture as the classical techniques of the ancients were renewed. The ancient ruins of Rome inspired Renassaince thinkers to restore all forms of art, architecture, and literature which then caused further extension of ideas beyond the thinking during the Middle Ages. That is why "Renaissance" is the perfect term for describing that state of history because the rebirth of old ideas brought on the new ideas in the future.
The Term Renaissance is a valid concept for the distinct period in modern history. The reason for this is that renaissance is a French word meaning "Rebirth". Before the renaissance, Europe was in the middle ages, in which it was thought that humans spirts were dorment. The Renaissance was said to have awoken the spirts of men and women alike. Culture and everyones point of view of life was reborn into flourishing economies, magnificent cultures, and products that today we have taken from them and have in our everyday lives. The jump from the middle ages of darkness to the rebirth which came with light and great changes is why renaissance is the correct term to be used when talking about this remarkable period in history.
I agree with dan d. Renaissance is the perfect word to call this period in time because it means rebirth and that is exactly what happened to Europe. Like he said the Renaissance awakend the spirits and a new culture was born. Europe went from being stuck in the Dark Ages to entering a time of peace and prosperity. The old practices of the church were forgotten and the Greco-Roman tradition was revisited. Art and architecture were secular from the church and Europe was flourishing in new ideas and beliefs.
I agree with juliab becuase the Renaissance was a tme of rebirth. They brought back the ideas of the Greco-Roman styles and made life easier. Pepole turned away from their old ways of listing to the church and discovered their own ideas.
